POLICY CONCERNING PRIVACY AND THE PROTECTION OF PERSONAL INFORMATION
WHEREAS the terms defined in the General Terms and Conditions apply to this policy;
WHEREAS Mise sur toi is mindful of the privacy of its Visitors;
MISE SUR TOI AGREES to respect the privacy of its Visitors, as specified in the following:
1. PERSONAL INFORMATION
The Site does not contain any technology that could be used to collect personal information from Visitors without their consent. Visitors are free to use the Site, subject to the conditions set out in the General Terms and Conditions, without their personal information being collected.
The only personal information that may be collected by Mise sur toi is that which is voluntarily given by Visitors when writing directly to an e-mail address found on the Site. Any information thus collected will be treated in the same manner as any other direct exchanges between the customer and Mise sur toi (by mail, telephone, etc.), in accordance with the provisions of the Act respecting access to documents held by public bodies and the protection of personal information, R.S.Q., c. A-2.1.
2. INFORMATION EXCHANGED AUTOMATICALLY
Information exchanged automatically between computers is not used to identify Visitors personally. Such data is collected for the sole purpose of meeting the technical requirements of browsing the Internet and is used for statistical purposes only.
Visitors should be aware that each time they access the Mise sur toi Site, an exchange of information takes place, automatically and without the need for intervention, between their computer and the servers of Mise sur toi and third parties. This information does not identify the Visitor personally.
The following information is exchanged:
- The Internet domain name (for example, “xcompany.com” if users are using a private Internet access account, or “university.edu” if they are accessing the Web through a university), as well as its IP address (in general terms, an IP address is a unique identifier assigned to a computer when it is linked to the Internet, which allows documents addressed to that computer to be sent without error);
- The type of browser and operating system being used to access the portal;
- The pages to which the user is navigating;
- If the Visitor accesses the Mise sur toi Site from another site (referring site);
- If the Visitor has already visited the Mise sur toi Site in the past few weeks, in which case it is then possible to identify the Visitor by means of a “cookie” residing on his or her computer (see 3).
Mise sur toi uses Google Analytics. This service requires in its privacy policy that we bring to the attention of website users this statement:
“This website uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google, Inc. (“Google”). Google Analytics uses “cookies,” which are text files placed on your computer, to help the website analyze how users use the site. The information generated by the cookie about your use of the website (including your IP address) will be transmitted to and stored by Google on servers in the United States. This exchange of information is necessary in order for the server to send files that are compatible with the computer hardware being used by the Visitor. Mise sur toi also stores information needed to track the number of visitors to the site, the most frequently accessed pages, the technology used by visitors to its sites, the referring sites and the country of origin of its visitors.
3. COOKIES
The Mise sur toi Site places cookies (long-lasting or temporary) on visitors’ hard drive. These cookies are mainly used to simplify visitors’ browsing experience by remembering their language preference. Other cookies may be used, for instance, to track how many times a visitor returns to the Mise sur toi Site within a given period of time.
No personal information is collected without the prior consent of the Visitors.
Visitors may at any time erase these cookies from their computers without affecting the operation of the Mise sur toi website on their computers.
